My wife’s son had a 1970 XKE 5.3 convertible. When we drove it, it required specific actions to make it run like hell. The car idled at about 60 miles per hour. Once the revs got high enough the car ran very quietly, no vibrations, just speed. We had it up to 120 mph on the Los Angeles freeway and it was hardly running. What a car. Everyone should own or drive on once. It did require a more than normal trip to the garage in order to keep the engine running tip top. What a car. He used to start it in the drive way, pull up a chair near the exhaust pipes and listen to the purr of the V-12. Damn was it nice. I never did ask the price. It was brand new. Dark green with black interior.
